No you don't, you can download update ROM to your phone, download the updated modem.img, replace it in file manager and press "select update file" in the OTA updater. It is a bit of a process but no PC required.

Well, that does sound like a hassle... But I imagine if you are upgrading from EU ROM already patched with the EEA modem, you can, when an update is released, patch the updated ROM and update without data format? That should be possible by logic, since the modem is from the same region...

They already said they can't guarantee the modem thingy will work in future versions, so they won't do it. Is it really that hard to do it by yourself? If you know how to unlock bootloader and install a custom ROM, you know how to do this...

I suppose there are some MIUI China/Xiaomi.EU features not present in Global that are not translated. If it wasn't the case, no language would have an active translator.

Well Xiaomi.EU has the Mi Dialer, which has a built-in call recorder.

You need to connect a Mi Account, wait 168h (maybe? idk if it's on that model), go into fastboot mode and unlock via Mi Unlock. The tablet shouldn't connect to internet as far as I know.

Hi, I wonder do some of you with unlocked bootloaders use anything to increase anti-theft safety, since with the unlocked bootloader anyone can install an another ROM. Is it possible to protect it somehow, since locking it would brick the phone? Thanks
